The 2014 HGTV Dream Home Sweepstakes ended in February with thousands of people taking time every day to sign up and dream for the chance to win the beautiful home in Lake Tahoe. According to Scripts Networks on Wednesday, over 5,000 HGTV fans in the Tahoe community took their interest a step further with a tour of the actual home and raised money for the tour admissions resulted in a $51,047 contribution to Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation.

The 2014 HGTV Dream Home is a 3,200-square-foot dream home located in Truckee, California. It is complete with three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. And offers a complete kitchen with an island dinner table, a family room, media room and a garage for the new Yukon Denali that comes with the HGTV's Dream Home 2014 Giveaway.

Alright so who won the big prize? The name of the winner has not been released, but the individual has been contacted. According to the rules the winner was contacted in the first part of March with an “ambush style” visit that will be taped to show on air. The winner might take the home and move to Tahoe or maybe they will decide to do without the material possessions and take the cash. So far, no word on the decision of the winner, just confirmation that the person has been contacted as per the official rules.

While fans who haven’t seen camera crews show up at their front door might be disappointed, there is always next year! The opportunity to win a home is worthy of taking the time as next time it might be your new home!
