Runners and walkers can get a registration discount and special commemorative mug for finishing three half marathons in the 2014 Gorge Half Marathon Triple Crown series. Each race is walker and slow-runner friendly with a five hour time limit.

The three half marathons take place in different locales and seasons in the Columbia River Gorge and feature routes on the historic Columbia River Highway and views of the river and gorge. Participants can also register for the individual events if they can't make all three.
Water's Edge Half Marathon, The Dalles, Oregon, May 3, 2014
This half marathon is part of the Water's Edge Fitness Festival celebrating the cherry industry. This is the second year for this event. A 10K and duathlon are also available. The route goes east along the Riverfront Trail winding through grasslands and along the banks of the Columbia River. The course is closed to motor traffic for 90% of the route. Registrants get a t-shirt and finisher's medal and a post-race lunch of sub sandwiches, pasta salad and cherry cupcakes. They promise a walker-friendly 5-hour time limit. For the swift, they have awards for Overall Male & Female champions, 1st thru 3rd place finishers in each individual age division, as well as the Clydesdale and Athena divisions.
Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon, Cascade Locks, Oregon, August 10, 2014
Debuting in 2014, this event includes a half marathon and a 10K. Runners and walkers will be bused to start on the Washington side of the Bridge of the Gods, crossing bridge to get the heart pumping with stunning views and the scary open-mesh bridge deck. Then they continue west on the Historic Columbia River Highway State Park Trail, crossing four bridges and creeks under a shaded canopy of old growth forest. The turn around will be located at just west of the brand new section of trail at Moffett Creek and take racers back the same route to Cascade Locks. The finish line is on Thunder Island, with a beer garden, music and expo. They promise a walker-friendly 5-hour time limit. Registrants get a tech shirt, finisher's medal and lunch.
Columbia Gorge Marathon, Hood River, Oregon, October 26, 2014
This will be the sixth year for this excellent event, which offers a marathon, half marathon, 2-person team half marathon and the Dog Leg half marathon for those runnning/walking with their dog, and a Kids' Marathon (1.2 miles). The course heads east through town and then out the Historic Columbia River Highway State Park Trail through the Mosier Tunnels to the turnaround and back. Most of the route is under forest canopy, with stunning views of the Gorge. The rewards are a beanie cap, finisher's medal and taco bar lunch with beer. The time limit is six hours for the marathon and 5.5 hours for the half marathon. Registration is capped at 1500, so don't wait too long to register.
