Thanks to being involved with the Fiesta Movement, I recently had the opportunity to take the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST our drag racing to set the quarter mile time. While Ford claims a 14.9 second quarter mile time, that is in ideal weather conditions with perfect tires and most likely the best attempt out of several. The average daily driven Joe can expect a slightly slower time.
Still impressive, after running the car for 11,000 miles without an oil change and on bald tires in 98*F Florida humidity, I still ran a 16 second pass. Interesting enough, one pass had too much tire spin, and the other had some terrible shifting. I missed third gear, and ran a 16.04; I spun the tires, and ran a 16.06; so needless to say with a perfect set of tires, fresh oil change, good shifting, and a proper launch the car may see low 15's at best.
Is this car a drag racing favorite? Absolutely not. This car is more designed for track style racing and aggressive daily driving. In traffic, the car is a pure treat to drive and gears are placed perfectly. On the track, late braking allows quicker lap times than you could ever imagine. The Fiesta ST is an amazing vehicle, but it is not ideal for drag racing. No, this little green bean loves the curves!
