Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin led the team with his sixth-place finish in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Hamlin’s JGR teammates Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch finished 13th and 29th, respectively.
Hamlin, in the No. 11 FedEx Freight Toyota Camry, was pole sitter for the race with a track record speed of 129.991 mph (14.761 seconds), but only led four laps during the race. Hamlin fought early handling problems in the race before the rains came, and following the three-plus-hour rain delay held onto his top 10 spot for a sixth-place finish.
Kenseth, in the No. 20 Home Depot Husky Toyota, led four times for a race-high 165 laps, while Busch, in the No. 18 Skittles Toyota, led once for 73 laps.
The Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series head back west to Fontana, California’s Auto Club Speedway for treatmyclot.com 300 and the Auto Club 400 on March 22nd and 23rd. Keep up with the action at joegibbsracing.com.
