With the “FIFA Soccer” games performing well and scoring high reviews, was it even a wonder if EA Sports would release a game based on the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil? The suspense is no more after EA Sports' recently announced the game during a financial call. What was said about the game? Not much of anything.
Games based on the largest soccer event in the world make a lot of sense. Not only will fans from popular soccer nations such as Italy and France buy the game, but so will gamers from the U.S. and the other nations whose countries have never been close to winning the championship. It gives soccer gamers equal ground to stand on. With the newer FIFA games improving the gameplay so it looks more like its real-life counterpart, this will most likely sell a lot of copies as a result.
No mention as to what systems it will be on, but it's safe to assume that it will be on the current-gen and next-gen systems. There is a chance that this ends up just being DLC, but seeing how many of the previous World Cup games have been standalone releases, it's a good bet that this one will be too.
