Today running back LeSean McCoy is in the top spot on the 2014 NFL fantasy football draft list, but tomorrow it could be Jamaal Charles or Adrian Peterson.

All three players have been ranked No. 1 overall in the fantasy football draft and listed as the No. 1 running back based on a survey of several fantasy football sites. Earlier this month the Examiner declared Charles as No. 1a, McCoy as 1b and Peterson 1c in the overall 2014 draft list.

Beyond the top three players, the draft list for the top 40 running backs falls into a predictable pattern for the No 4 through No. 12 spots. In fact, the top 12 running backs are consistently targeted for the first two rounds of the fantasy football draft.

Here is the list of the top 40 running backs to include in your 2014 fantasy football draft kit.

SLEEPER PICK: Doug Martin of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Martin's season was just six game last year due to a shoulder injury, but expect him to perform like he did in 2012. He caught only 12 passes in 2013 compared to 49 as a rookie in 2012. He rushed for 456 yards last year, but had 1,454 yards rushing in 2012. With Lovie Smith as his new head coach, a healthy Martin will be the cornerstone of the Tampa Bay offense and worthy of selection as a starting running back on a fantasy football team.
