2014 Fantasy Draft Top 20 Defenses/Special Teams: NFL Champ Seattle is No. 1

See also

It will be somewhere in the middle of your fantasy football draft that some shrewd soul will select Seattle’s No. 1-ranked defense and special teams.

It was the Seahawk’s “D” that shut down Peyton Manning and the Broncos in this year’s Super Bowl and provided the city of Seattle with its first NFL title. During the 2013 season, they were No, 1 in total defense, No. 1 in passing defense and No. 7 in rushing defense. If the Seahawks are going to repeat as NFL champions, then they'll do it with a superior defense and special teams.

The San Francisco 49ers are being pressed by division rival St. Louis for the No. 2 spot in defense and special teams, but the AFC champion Denver Broncos could potentially move past both teams in 2014.

A survey of popular fantasy football sites has the Cincinnati Bengals locked in as No. 5 with the Carolina Panthers at No. 6 and Arizona at No. 7.

SLEEPER PICK: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If you look at the credentials of new head coach Lovie Smith, you can see why the Bucs are the "Sleeper" pick. Smith believes in a strong defensive-minded team and Tampa Bay has a nice mix of young and veteran talent.
