2014 F-150 Tremor: One last look as only a very few are left

The last F-150 Tremor sport truck has been built as Ford shut down the Dearborn Assembly line last week to convert to production of the all-new aluminum 2015 F-150. The exciting 2014 Tremor specialty sport truck will not be continuing in the Ford line – at least for now – as a Tremor trim level truck is not included in the much shorter line-up of 2015 Ford F-150 trucks announced earlier in the month.

But the good news – says our Ford truck sources - is that there are F-150 Tremor trucks on dealer lots now, even though production has stopped, as many dealers ordered some in to their inventory anticipating continuing demand for, what many say, is the best street performance sport truck Ford has ever built. So, if you are interested in getting this truly special truck, contact your dealer now to have them locate one for you.

However, If unfortunately, you are not able to get your hands on a 2014 F-150 Tremor, our Ford sources tells us that there will be a Sport Appearance Package available on the 2015 Ford F-150 XLT and Lariat models that can be coupled with the FX2 and FX4 trim levels to get a F-150 similar to the Tremor. We have not seen the detail of what will be included in that Sport Appearance Package, but our Ford sources suggest the look and performance profile will be similar.

One more Tremor drive
We drove a 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor 4x4 back in March of this year and had a great time in this exciting and quick, nimble, good looking and very capable regular cab pickup. So much so that we asked Ford if we could have it back for the Labor Day weekend this week. Well it is back (at least for the week) and we intend to get some serious road time in and around town in this Race Red beauty while we can. If you see us out and about – give a shout, you will recognize the Tremor graphics on our 2014 F-150 FX4.

One more look at Tremor
The 2014 Ford was introduced in late 2013 designed to be a bit less expensive street version of the seriously good looking and high performing popular Ford F-150 Raptor which is the only regular production full off-road pickup truck in the market today. We note, sadly, that there will be no F-150 Raptor in the 2015 line either, but do know that a test version has been seen running around in camouflage as it goes through shakedown for what is said to be an even more potent Raptor for 2016.

The 2014 Tremor takes the mid-range model FX series level truck with a regular cab as a base, powers it with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine and then adds distinctive Tremor trims and accessories that make it stand out among the pickup crowd on the street – or off the road.

The current Tremor is based on the F-150 FX2 (4x2) or F-150 FX4 (4x4) pickup in a short wheel-base standard cab only with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic electronic transmission with tow/haul mode. This powertrain delivers 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque through a standard 4.10 electronic locking rear end – putting all that power on the road through its distinctive styled 20-inch black wheels clad with Pirelli Scorpion STR P275/55R20 tires. The Tremor is finished on the inside with distinctive Black Leather seating trimmed in red stitching.

The Tremor, of course, includes all of the standard features of the FX series F-150. The result is a Ford F-150 Tremor that is distinctively packaged and appeals to a wide range of buyers including young professionals, trades persons, street enthusiasts who are occasional off-roaders and more than a few over-the-hill types like this writer who really appreciate its well-engineered truck performance and styling.
