Dodge brand announced today (Feb. 26) that the entire model year production of their special edition 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker is gone – already sold – in just four days.

1970's era shaker hoods go fast in 2014

If you did not get your order in for one of these hot Challenger R/T models that brought back the unique “Shaker” hoods with a functional exposed-element cold-air intake system feeding a 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine - you can’t say you were not warned.

Dodge introduced the functional “Shaker” hood special edition Challenger at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas in November.

We wrote about Challenger R/T Shaker at that time suggesting that, if interested, you talk to your Dodge dealer right away to get in line.

Dodge had expected these to go fast – and they did as orders opened on Jan. 7 with all them gone by Jan. 10.

“Based on this strong initial demand, it’s clear that our customers are excited about the return of the legendary Shaker model, which was engineered for enthusiasts who asked for even more attitude and a dose of muscle car heritage,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of the Dodge Brand. “The 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with the unique hood and intake design makes this performance car an instant classic – like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with the Shaker hood.”

The new 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shakers are shipping now to Dodge dealerships.

There is always the chance that not all of the cars ordered were an actual “sold” order at the dealer placing the order, meaning they bought one or two for showroom inventory.

If you still want one, you would be wise to start contacting dealers now while cars are in transit to showrooms.

Pricing for the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker model starts at $36,995 MSRP and $37,495 with the custom one-of-a-kind hood-to-tail stripes, which is only $2,500 more than the Challenger R/T Classic for all of the unique features of this limited production model.

Good luck.
