2014 Daytona Preseason Thunder: Hamlin leads Toyota in Cup testing

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin was ninth-fastest in testing on Friday, January 10th at Daytona International Speedway during Preseason Thunder for the Sprint Cup Series. Hamlin, who ran 88 laps during the Friday session, had a top speed of 193.071 mph (46.615 seconds) and was the fastest Toyota Camry to take time. Thursday’s first testing session was cancelled due to rain.

JGR driver Matt Kenseth was 19th-quick in testing with 42 laps run and a top speed of 192.189 mph (46.829 seconds), while Kyle Busch was 21st-fastest with 33 laps run and a top speed of 191.857 mph (46.910 seconds).

In Saturday’s first Nationwide Series testing session at Daytona, Elliott Sadler was fourth-quick for JGR with 12 laps run and a fast lap of 179.827 mph (50.048 seconds); he dropped to 20th-quick in the second session, running 27 laps with a top speed of 179.853 mph (50.041 seconds).
