2014 Critics' Choice Awards: '12 Years a Slave,' 'American Hustle' among winners

"12 Years a Slave," "American Hustle" and "Gravity" were among the big winners at the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Awards, which were held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., on Jan. 16, 2014. The CW had the live U.S. telecast of the event, which was hosted by Aisha Tyler. The awards are voted on by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

"12 Years a Slave" won three awards, including the top prize: Best Picture.

"American Hustle" won four awards, including Best Comedy and Best Acting Ensemble.

"Gravity" won seven prizes, including Best Director (for Alfonso Cuarón) and Best Sci-Fi Horror Movie.

In non-competition categories, the Joel Siegel Award went to Forest Whitaker for his humanitarian work, while the Louis XIII Genius Award went to Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater for their work on the trilogy "Before Sunrise," "Before Sunset" and "Before Midnight."

Many of the same people who won 2014 Golden Globe Awards won the same prizes at the 2014 Critics' Choice Awards: Amy Adams of "American Hustle" (Best Actress in a Comedy), Leonardo DiCaprio of "The Wolf of Wall Street" (Best Actor in a Comedy), Matthew McConaughey of "Dallas Buyers Club" (Best Actor), Cate Blanchett of "Blue Jasmine" (Best Actress) and Jared Leto of "Dallas Buyers Club" (Best Supporting Actor).
