2014 concert preview

On the surface, “bah, humbug” would not seem inaccurate in describing 2013 in respect to live music in Central Florida, especially this time of year. Televised trials, gun laws and water park documentaries made us increasingly unpopular with some celebrities. The boycott thing, however was really blown out of proportion and Central Floridians got their fair share of good shows.
The local calendars for 2014 so far are chock-full of great shows. January will bring us Lucero, Sea Wolf, Reggie and the Full Effect to The Social. At The Beacham, catch AFI, and Against Me! The Plaza Theatre will present Leon Russell, Richard Thompson, and Keb Mo’. Amon Amarth will return to the House of Blues, and the Hard Rock Live will host The Arctic Monkeys (already sold out, I’m afraid), and in early February, Queens of the Stone Age.
Keep checking back for shows at Will’s Pub, and don’t forget Park Ave. CD’s in-store shows. This year is not yet over, but the next one is already looking like a lot of fun.
