Color makes the world go round. When it comes to yarn, color is what draws you in, the fiber content keeps you knitting. You will be seeing skeins of Pantone's color of the year, 'Radiant Orchid' at your local yarn shop, before your current project is off the needles. This color will be on fashion runways, at knitting conventions, fiber and textile conferences and of course on your needles.
'Radiant Orchid' is the fiber color that will be "springing" up everywhere in 2014. Pantone is defining this color as, “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones.” Pantone says it chose the color because it produces a rosy glow when worn. Combine this color with olive, hunter green and turquoise for added knitting fun. You will also see this color in fashion, home decor and beauty products.
Who is Pantone? They are "the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries."
'Radiant Orchid' is a complex, exotic color with more colors in the purple family to follow. Pantone has found that color is very influencial, in that 50% to 85% of products purchased are made based on color.
A skein of "Radiant Orchid' yarn would make a nice stocking stuffer.
