2014 Coca Cola 600 qualifying: Hamlin leads JGR in sixth

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin was the fastest JGR car at Charlotte Motor Speedway Thursday night, qualifying sixth for Sunday’s Coca Cola 600. The driver of the No. 11 FedEx Office Toyota Camry had a fast lap of 193.119 mph (27.962 seconds) in the final round of knock-out qualifying.

All three JGR teams made it through to the final round of knock-out qualifying, with Kyle Busch in the No. 18 M&Ms Toyota qualifying seventh after a lap of 193.092 mph (27.966 seconds) and Matt Kenseth qualifying 12th in the No. 20 Home Depot/Husky Tools Toyota (192.898 mph/27.994 seconds).

Jimmie Johnson will start from the pole in the Coca Cola 600 Sunday, with Brad Keselowski on the outside pole. Kasey Kahne, Danica Patrick and Clint Bowyer round out the top five in qualifying.

The Coca Cola 600 goes green at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Nationwide Series qualifies Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. ET, with the History 300 going green at 2:45 p.m. ET. Keep up with the action at joegibbsracing.com.
