The 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season kicks off this weekend, Thursday through Sunday, February 6th through 9th, with the Circle K NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in California. The event will feature Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock classes as well as numerous Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories.
Shawn Langdon began his road to the 2013 Top Fuel championship with a win at Pomona in Race No. 1 last year, joining Courtney Force (Funny Car) and Vincent Nobile (Pro Stock) in the winner’s circle.
This year’s Winternationals will have a traditional pro qualifying schedule, breaking from the one session on Thursday, one on Friday and two on Saturday program that has been used in the past. Thursday, February 6th will feature sportsman qualifying beginning at 8:15 a.m. PT; sportsman qualifying continues Friday, February 7th at 8:15 a.m. PT, with pro sessions taking the track at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. PT. Sportsman action continues on Saturday, February 8th at 8:15 a.m. PT, with the final two rounds of pro qualifying at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. PT. Eliminations begin on Sunday, February 9th at 11 a.m. PT.
Tickets for the Circle K NHRA Winternationals are still available through www.nhratix.com. Full-event general admission passes are available for $130, while the Top Eliminator Club Package is available for $340. Daily tickets are also available – adult admission on Sunday ranges in price from $50 to $65.
