2014 Chinese New Year parade and celebrations

Ringing in the Chinese New Year, customers and restaurant owners celebrated the New Year with Lion Dancing as they greet the performers at their doors on Jan 31, 2014 in the City of Milpitas.

The Martial Arts Studio Vo Vin Nam joined in the celebrations with many others to enjoy the bringing in of this year’s Chinese character the horse. The Dragon roller and drum was performed by members with Nguyen Quoc Huy, as several participants and members of Vo Vin Nam martial arts. Members lunged and jumped as grandparents, parents, and wishful onlookers stood by and watched on as they Vo Vin Nam performers rang in the New Year with fireworks and acrobatic feats of strength and versatility.

See Video: Three Unicorns danced under the balcony of the retail stores lined along 1700 block of N. Main Street in Milpitas, Ca. Performers danced in front of the Pho Hoang Long Restaurant and other retail businesses.

Many others danced along San Francisco’s Chino Town, showing off New Costumes of the Year of the Horse with many others performing the ritual Lion and Dragon dance.

The year of the horse is ushered in to help peace and prosperity for all those who celebrate the traditions of the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese Zodiac is also a favorite among those who celebrate the 5000 year tradition. Other cities throughout California have similar celebrations planned throughout the two week span. Celebrations are expected to continue until Feb 18, 2014.
