Have you ever wanted to give to charity or help someone in need, but didn’t know where to begin? The 2014 Calendar of Giving may be the answer, according to Family-to-Family. The non-profit has created 12 ways for families and teachers to engage children and adults in acts of kindness throughout the year.
“As a mom myself, I thought how easy it would be to break things down for people,” said Pam Koner, Founder of Family-to-Family. “I took a lot of the programs we do and broke them down, so it wouldn’t be overwhelming,” she said.
Ideas range from birthday giving parties and pajama drives to empathy projects and family sponsorships. “My goal is about empowering the next generation of givers… there’s something about teaching your child to be mindful and empathetic to another,” said Koner.
The calendar also fits in with New Year’s Resolutions, because it can last all year long, Koner said. “A hallmark of Family-to-Family is that we believe in the possibilities, not the limitations. We believe that we can make a difference.”
Family-to-Family is a national hunger and poverty relief organization that connects families with enough to share to impoverished families. For more information, contact Pam Koner at email@example.com.
