27-year old Samantha McNally of Lancaster defended her title with a time of 1:22:28 to win the 2014 Caesar Rodney Half Marathon yesterday for the second year in a row. Darryl Brown returned to Wilmington to win the men's race with a time of 1:10:23. Brown was the men's winner in 2011 and 2012. For the women, 25-year old Samantha Snead was second in 1:23:00, and 29-year old Rachel Clattenburg third in 1:25:56. For the men, Steve Sinko was second in 1:12:48, and Dan DiMeo third in 1:13:33. Over 1400 runners participated in the half marathon, where temperatures at the start were in the mid 30s.
From the Philadelphia area, Peter Viscardo (1:19:47) of Wayne and Dan Troland (1:20:28) of Conshohocken were top five in the 35-39 age group, Beth Varga of Audubon was 4th in her age group in 1:29:38, 33-year old Paige Boehmcke was second in her age group in 1:33:02. Brian Troland of West Chester ran a 1:22:07, and Jason Vail of Philadelphia a 1:22:21, both top five in their age group. Heather Erb of West Chester was 3rd in her age group in 1:33:29.
