2014 ASICS LA Marathon encourages parking reservations

Sunday, March 9, 2014 is the running of the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon. If you are planning on parking in Santa Monica and taking the complimentary pre-race shuttles to Dodger Stadium, you must reserve your parking space now.

Like last year, the City of Santa Monica is offering on-line parking reservations that allow runners and walkers the opportunity to purchase a parking space in City owned lots in advance of race day. These reservations are only for runners who will be using the shuttle system. There are no in and out privileges with these reservations.

The City-owned parking lots are convenient to both the shuttle pick up location and the Finish Line. Your paid reservation receipt will provide specific driving directions to your parking lot and walking directions to the shuttle pick-up location.

All City of Santa Monica-owned parking facilities will be closed overnight between Saturday March 8 and Sunday, March 9. Only those who have pre-purchased parking will be allowed access to the location specified on the parking pass. On Sunday, March 9th, many Downtown Parking Structures will be closed until 7:00 A.M. to allow for parking for spectators later in the day. There will be NO OVERNIGHT PARKING in the City of Santa Monica Parking Lots. Only those who have pre-purchased parking will be allowed access to the location specified on the parking pass. Additionally, please keep in mind that Santa Monica has extensive residential preferential parking regulations which prohibit or limit parking in residential neighborhoods.

The LA Marathon asks that you please understand that the parking rates are set by the City of Santa Monica and the ASICS LA Marathon receives no compensation. For questions about reserving your parking space online, parking refunds, or Santa Monica parking lots, please call 866-330-7275.

March 9th is not just important because it is race day, it is also the day we "Spring Forward" for Daylight Savings Time.

Make sure you plan ahead and adjust your clock ahead one hour before you go to sleep. As you create your "race day checklist" of all the items you need for the big day, add this to the list now. The race will still start at 7:25 A.M.
