Happy New Year Everyone!
As the new year rolls in, it is time to take stock in what you want to accomplish for the Lord this coming year.
Your children are getting older, and you want to direct them in the path the Lord would have them follow. Introducing new ideas, things for them to explore, places for them to investigate, etc... - think "change." Look at ways you can introduce new things to your children, without making it look like work to them.
Are they outgoing and like people? What ways can they grow in this area? Consider visiting the elderly or children in the hospital. Maybe come up with a puppet play they can share.
Do they like to do things for others? How about cooking a meal for a local firehouse, or singing at a seniors home.
Your younger ones can do things also. They can make a craft to share. In the seniors homes, many of the seniors do not have family near and would be thrilled to be visited by young ones. Of course check with management before visiting for the rules and what is allowed. Maybe there are seniors in your church that do not have family near, making this a lonely time of year. Your child's gift could make the day for a fellow sister or brother in the Lord.
Basically you want to utilize the gifts you and your children have, and share them with others. Think outside the box this year. How can you show others that Jesus loves them? Maybe a neighbor needs the love of Jesus and bringing a child's handmade gift would cheer them up and make them see that Jesus loves them.
Of course, you too need to see how the Lord would use you this year. Pray and ask the Lord what new things he would like you to do in 2014.
Forget about new years resolutions, make Jesus resolutions, they will last longer!
Happy New Year everyone and may the Lord bless you mightily in 2014!
