Stage Four of the Tour of California was held today. The race started at 11:05 A.M. in the city of Monterey and ended in Cambria. The course was 102.6 miles and featured one sprint and three climbs. Rohan Dennis entered the race wearing the yellow jersey and his lead was on the line. Will Routley was also defending his KOM (King of the Mountain) and Sprint leader jerseys.
The winner of Stage Four was Will Routley (Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies) who finished with a time of 3:48:37. He was followed by Gregory Daniels (Bissell Development Team) and Kevin De Mesmaeker (Team Novo Nordisk). Jerseys were awarded to the riders as followed: Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) wins the yellow for the third time, Will Routley retains his KOM and wins the Sprint jersey, Lawson Craddock (Team Giant-Shimano) retains the best young rider and Jonathan Clarke is awarded the Most Courageous Rider Jersey. For tomorrow's stage, Clarke will wear the KOM and Christopher Jones (UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team) will wear the Courageous Rider Jersey.
Stage Five will start in Pismo Beach and end in Santa Barbara. The course is 107.4 miles and will feature two sprints and one climb with an elevation high of 1,363 feet.
