2014 Amgen Tour of California Stage Five: Pismo Beach to Santa Barbara

Stage Five of the 2014 Amgen Tour of California was held today and started in Pismo Beach and ended in Santa Barbara. The course was 107.4 miles long and featured two sprints and a climb. This race is where the cream of the crop rises from the rest of the pack. Bradley Wiggins defended his yellow jersey Thursday and is looking to keep it for the fourth time.

After 107 grueling miles of road, today's winner was Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing Team) with a time of 3:59.33. He was joined in the top three by Peter Sagan (Cannondale Pro Cycling) and Matthew Goss (ORICA-GreenEDGE). Today's Jersey Standings are: Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) Yellow, Will Routley (Optum Pro Cycling p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies) King of the Mountain, Peter Sagan (Cannondale Pro Cycling) Sprint, Lawson Craddock (Team Giant-Shimano) Best Young Rider and Taylor Phinney wins the Most Courageous Rider Jersey. The top three teams are as followed: Team Garmin-Sharp, Orica-GreenEdge and Team Giant-Shimano.

Tomorrow's stage takes place in Santa Clarita and ends in Mountain High. The race will feature four climbs, two sprints and is 94.8 miles long. Starting time is scheduled for 11:40 A.M. For more information about Friday's stage please visit
