2014 Academy Awards winners complete list plus red carpet photos

It was a big night for the movies as the 86th Annual Academy Awards was held March 2 in Holllywood, Calif. Ellen DeGeneres returned as host after a 7 year hiatus. Big winners for the night were " 12 Years a Slave", "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Gravity," with "12 Years a Slave' taking home Best Picture. Matthew McConaughey nabbed Best Actor for "Dallas Buyers Club " and Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for "Blue Jasmine."

Some of the show's highlights included singer Darlene Love singing "His Eye Is On the Sparrow" after "20 Feet From Stardom" won Best Documentary. Ellen Degeneres took a selfie with her and other stars that, according to Access Hollywood drew more than 200,000 re-tweets in 15 minutes and momentarily crashed Twitter. The shot included Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’o, Angelina Jolie and Bradley Cooper – who took the photo.

Movie great Sidney Poitier presented with Angelina Jolie. Memorable quote for the night came from Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o when she said, "No matter where you're from, your dreams are valid." The memorial tribute to those who died in the past year was caped off with a Bette Midler singing her signature song, "Wing Beneath My Wings." It was Midler's first performance on the Oscars.
