Just like a charter roster, the 2013 Wyoming Roller Derby All Stars also has a reserve, those who received enough votes to make the list, but not enough to reach the top 14. These skaters are skaters to keep your eyes on in 2014! And yes, before someone points it out, there are seven skaters on this list as opposed to the usual six. There were two that tied, and rather then decide or cut one out, I figure we could spotlight them both. So, yes that makes 21 Wyoming All Stars for 2013. Deal with it.
Therefore, in no particular order, the 2013 Wyoming Roller Derby All Stars: The Reserves
Miss Bee Havin', Coal Miners Daughters -
"Bee is an amazing blocker and always a blast to have on the track. She is an animal when it comes to getting in front of a skater for positional blocking, it's super hard to get around her lovely derby booty. When she connects for a hit, you are probably going down or out." ~ Karma Suture
Polly Pushy Pants, Jackson Hole Juggernauts -
"An injury left Pants unable to skate with us the first year. However, you'd think she never missed a beat the way she skates. Pants is a great teammate to skate with and someone I don't want to end up on the opposing team. She has a way where, if she wants you over there- you're going over there." ~ Sadie Godiva
Bang a Rang Faye, Naughty Pines Derby Dames -
"When I think of blockers that I dread going up against, Bang is the first player that comes to mind. She is one of the happiest and friendliest people that I have ever met off the track, and one of the most proficient blockers that I have ever come across in my derby career." ~ Charmaniac
"I don't think that anyone would disagree that Bang is a one-woman wall, but from my perspective, the thing that makes her worthy of being a Wyoming Roller Derby MVP is her dedication, and willingness to step up and take on responsibility with the Naughty Pines. When the team needed leadership, she stepped up as assistant coach, adding new structure to practices and making the skaters accountable for their attendance and participation. As an official, I don't usually have a strong opinion on skaters when it comes to this kind of thing, but it's really easy to recognize when someone is dedicated to the sport and their league." ~ Shake 'n Break
The Guverness, Cheyenne Capidolls -
"Want to talk about a skater whose made leaps and bounds this past year!! Gov has really grown into this kick ass force on the track. She has amazing footwork. A great understanding of the game. I can't imagine playing without her." ~ Bisco Fever
"I think this girl is one of the more under appreciated and under recognized skaters in Wyoming roller derby. She is such a well rounded skater in that she can jam with the best of them and block like a brick wall. She is also a true leader in the sport. She is a team captain, pivot extraordinaire, and an evil genius at strategy. When she makes a suggestion for a play, you listen." ~ Charmaniac
Chyna Bash 'Em, Prairie Fire Roller Girls
"Chyna Bash'em has a lot of heart and dedication to her team and to derby. On the track, even after breaking her ankle this year, she has fought her way back to being one of the top skaters in Cheyenne. Even when she couldn't skate, she supported her team to the fullest and works hard at every practice making her comeback." ~ Aleyta the Mistreata
Kodiak Attacks, Praire Fire Roller Girls
This is Kodiak's second year on the Wyoming Roller Derby All Stars in the The Reserves, congrats to her for that nod from her fellow skaters! If you have info you'd like to add about Kodiak, please send me an email by clicking here.
Charmaniac, Cheyenne Capidolls
"Charmaniac is a talented blocker and jammer on the track. Her skating skills are completely impressive. On the track she is calm and collected and is complimentary to all around her. Her fabulous attitude and fierceness on the track are contagious! She is amazing to watch and even more amazing to skate with." ~ Maiden Payne
"She's one of those skaters that makes you happy to come to practice. She meets every challenge, takes it by the horns and usually comes out the victor... She's a beautiful and loving woman who just so happens to be able to knock anyone she wants on her ass!" ~ Debbie Mercury
And there they are, the 2013 Roller Derby All Stars: The Reserves, as voted on by you, peers and fans alike. I hope you enjoyed them, and are excited to see the rest of this All Star roster!
