2013 WWE Royal Rumble: Facts and figures (Video)

With the 2013 WWE Royal Rumble coming up this Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona, here are some facts and figures heading into the event.

-Only six cities have hosted event twice: Miami, New York City, Atlanta, San Antonio, Fresno, CA and Boston. Meanwhile, Hamilton, ON, Houston, Orlando, Albany, NY, Sacramento, Providence, RI, Tampa, San Jose, Anaheim, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Detroit, St. Louis and Phoenix have all hosted one.

-This year’s event is the 26th annual event (1988’s event was not on pay per view).

-Steve Austin holds the record for the most Rumble wins and three while Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels have two each.

-Rey Mysterio holds the record for most time spent in a Rumble match with 1:02:12 in 2006. Here is the rest of the top five times:

-Chris Benoit—2004—1:01:30

-Bob Backlund—1993—1:01:10

Triple H—2006—1:00:09

Ric Flair—1992—59:36

-Triple H holds the most total time spent in Rumble matches at 3:51:32, followed by his best friend Shawn Michaels (3:42:30).

-Kane holds the record with 15 appearances in the Rumble match. Here are the rest of the top five:

-Shawn Michaels—12

Rikishi (Fatu, The Sultan) and The Undertaker—10

Big Show and Big Daddy V (Visceria, Mabel)—9

Triple H and Shelton Benjamin—8

-Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels have won the match at entry No. 1; The Undertaker and John Cena have won at entry No. 30.

-Of the last five Rumble winners (John Cena, Randy Orton, Edge, Alberto Del Rio and Sheamus), only Sheamus has gone to Wrestle Mania to win the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship.
