It’s a winter wonderland out there and what better way to beat the chill than tucked, snuggly, under a blanket, on your couch, watching winter TV awesomeness? Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 kicks off a bonanza of TV returns and premieres that you won’t want to miss.
ABC Family
“Switched at Birth” – This ABC Family gem makes its return on Monday, Jan. 7 with two big reasons for fans to tune in. You’ll recall that when things last wrapped up, a pregnant gal showed up looking for Angelo, most likely throwing a wrench in whatever progress Angelo had made with his family and Bemmett fans are waiting with bated breath – will they or won’t they? Tune in for “Switched at Birth’s” 2013 winter premiere on Jan. 7 at p.m./ 6 c.
“Bunheads” – This series that had no issues dancing into the hearts of viewers when the series premiered on June 11, 2012 will return with answers regarding Michelle’s disastrous Nutcracker assistant-directing debut – thanks to a can of mace masquerading as hairspray. With furious parents practically ready to stone the fast-talking, kind-hearted, quick-witted former Vegas showgirl, Michelle exited stage right a.k.a. left town even with her devoted dancers declaring, “Oh captain, my captain.”
Tune in for "Bunhead's" winter 2013 premiere on Monday, Jan. 7 at 9 p.m./8 c. on ABC Family.

“1600 Penn” – Admittedly this received one, sad little star in People magazine’s Jan. 14, 2013 special double issue, but as the TV Moms Examiner I am on the verge of giddiness awaiting the premiere. But then anything with Jenna Elfman is an automatic draw for this girl.
Look for this new NBC comedy series starring Bill Pullman and Elfman as the president and first lady to premiere on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9:30 p.m./8:30 c.

CBS
Several CBS series have already made their 2013 returns, but look for the big push of new returns the week of Jan. 14. In the meantime, plan to tune in for the 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
TBS
“Cougar Town” – Fans of the cul de sac crew were eight shades of giddy when TBS rescued the dropped ABC sitcom, and now the wait for new episodes is nearly over. Get ready to bust out a bottle (or five) of wine, as “Cougar Town” makes its TBS premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10 p.m./9 c.
For the kids…
“Sofia the First” was first introduced to viewers via a hugely hyped TV movie that first aired on Disney Channel on Nov. 18 and will make its series debut on Fri. Jan. 11 at 9:30 a.m./8:30 c. on Disney Junior.
With 2013 New Year’s resolutions already circling the drain, committing to your TV viewing schedule is definitely one resolution you can follow through on. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for “Necessary Roughness’s” return to USA Network on Wednesday, Jan. 23 and “Dallas” on Jan. 28; you can catch that on TNT.
