The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, Canada, one of Canada’s top illumination festivals, begins its seasonal run on Saturday, November 9th, running through January 31st, 2014.
The Winter Festival of Lights features more than three million lights along a three-plus-mile route with numerous other attractions, including outdoor ice skating at the TD RINK at the Brink until February 28th, 2014, holiday displays throughout the city, the Mistletoe Magic dinner musical, Friday night fireworks displays and more.
Saturday, November 16th features two big events, the CYTEC Candy Cane 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk, followed by the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade. The Candy Cane 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. at Niagara Falls City Hall, 4310 Queen St. in Niagara Falls; the Santa Claus Parade begins at 11 a.m. at the corner of Victoria Ave. and Armoury St. and ends at City Hall. Other events during the festival’s duration include the St. Catherines Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 24th at 2:30 p.m. and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14th at 11 a.m.
There is no fee to view the Festival’s illuminations, although donations will be accepted by Festival Ambassadors at Duffrin Islands exit, which will be used to enhance future displays. Find a map of the display route here.
