2013 Westminster Kennel Club dog show

It is quickly approaching that time again for the 137th Westminster Kennel Club dog show which is held in NYC Feburary 11 & 12. The dog show is a benched show, which means that all of the entries will be at the show for spectators to view for both days.

The Westminster show is the second longest-running sporting event in the United States and an American Institution. The show will take place at two landmark New York venues to accommodate its growing pool of dogs, handlers, vendors and spectators – Madison Square Garden and Piers 92/94. Competition will be televised live on CNBC (Monday) and USA Network (Tuesday) beginning at 8pm ET each evening.

The Piers offers an additional 200,000 square feet of space to make room for the return of benching, which allows spectators to interact with a favorite breed or individual dog. This is an opportunity for spectators to see over 3,200 dogs representing 187 different breeds. Two new breeds, the Treeing Walker Coonhoud and the Russell Terrier, will debut this February, as well.
