In America, 1 in every 88 children are "on the spectrum." What this means is a child is diagnosed as having Autism Spectrum Disorder. This creates difficulty because the disorder has very general similarities between individuals and very unique difficulties per individual. Autism Awareness month is recognized in the USA as April. This is an heads up that Saturday June 1, 2013 is Pittsburgh's Walk for Autism Speaks. For more information you can stay tuned to my articles and visit the website at 2013 Walk Now for Autism Speaks.
Also in the coming months for Autism, The Hangar Spots Bar is sponsoring their 2nd Annual Flip Cup Tournament. As runners, we know that beer has been found to be one of the best hydrating beverages on the market today. This event supports a great cause and creates some fun competition that we crave as runners.
On Friday April 19th, 2013 at 8:30 PM, The Hangar, 500 Flaugherty Run Road, Moon Township, PA 15108, $20 per person will get you entered into the Flip Cup Event, a t-shirt and 3 pitchers of beer for each team of 4. Along with this there are drink and food specials during the event, Basket Raffles, 50/50 Raffle and getting to know a little more about a disorder that has become extremely prevalent.
The money raised will be used to fund research into Autism Spectrum Disorder for understanding, how to treat the disorder and hopefully to discover a cure or prevention for it. Come make a positive change for Autism while enjoying a night of fun!
Please drink responsibly and always designate a driver if you plan on going out to drink. Hope to see you there!
