2013 Washington roller derby all-star team: Reserves

See also

This first list of skaters are those who finished somewhere between 15th and 20th during this years all-star voting in Washington. This list is called "The Reserves" since you can only dress 14 skaters for a bout. But with a 20 skater roster, that means there are still skaters who make the official roster, but not the team that's bouting. So, without further ado, here is the list of skaters that made this years reserve team.....

Re-AnimateHer (Rainier Rollergirls/Oly Rollers)

"Since joining our team last spring Coach "Mater" has brought RRG to a whole new level of fierce. Mater is great at teaching new skills, helping us strengthen old techniques and helping us to bring these skills to the game! She's great at watching the individual skater and helping them identify their stregths & weaknesses and teaching us was to build on both! She keeps our practices intense and fun! I have learned so much about myself as a skater & have made huge strides with her as our coach!" -

Nehi Nightmare (Rat City Rollergirls)

"She is so full of awesome and her footwork and pack work is inspirational. Don't let her size fool you - she will kick your ass!!" - Mary Arthur

"I love watching her skate. What can I say? She always seems to know exactly where she needs to be." - Anonymous

"She is one sneaky skater! She knows how to use her size to her advantage, and it makes it challenging when skating against her (which makes me try to play better)!" - Mae Lay

"Nehi is a roll model to the roll models! Never say you can't to that to her.... it's like raising a red flag in front of a bull. Nehi, as everyone knows jams like she's running for her life, but what's most surprising is that she blocks like she thinks she's the biggest line backer on the football team. When she said she wanted to block I secretly starting praying for her safety... but after watching her grow into a blocker, I no longer cringe when I see her go in on the opposing jammer or blocker. She's learned how to dig in and hold her own and opposing teams have learned to take her seriously. Nehi is a real crowd pleaser at Key Arena, when she gets through the pack or blocks another blocker or jammer, the crowd roars with excitement. Nehi defies the odds and is fearless and everyone loves her for bringing that to the track." - Jenny Evans

"Nehi plays fierce and fearless."Jennifer Conston

"She’s like a bigger version of me. Watching Nehi teaches me how to survive as a smaller skater. And we can share jerseys."Afro Jamuari

Aqua Knock U Out (Kitsap Derby Brats)

"Aqua stood out in the NW Junior Championships, as a jammer she finds her path and goes for it."Afro Jamuari

Sassy (Oly Rollers)

Oddly, Sassy didn't get any comments this year, either. However, people still definitely notice her deft blocking skills out there on the track. She's one of those players that, as long as she's playing the game, will be a fixture on this list year after year.

Rumble Bee Marie (Apple City)

"Without fail she diligently promotes the league, the sport, and the individual skater to be the best they can be." - Shell Shock

"What I admire about Rumble Bee is that she has worked so hard to become the skater she is. I know she's done countless workshops and training. Some skaters are total naturals and some work hard to be skilled skaters." - Anonymous

"Rumble Bee Marie has amazing form when she skates. She is persistent and tenacious and hits really hard." - Dead Girl Super Star

"Rumble Bee Marie is as technical as it gets when it comes to skating. She is the definition of an athlete when it comes to this sport, every second she is on skates she is working as hard as she can. She is very powerful, extremely effective and hard to defend against." - Former Coach Van Gore

"Rumble Bee Marie is a hard hitting, always on the move, always pushing the envelope, learning new stuff and bringing it to the track jammer and blocker! She's a very valuable teammate on and off the track!" - Hott Poppy~Rotzi

Cookie Dozer (West Sound Rollergirls)

"From our very first bout to now I have watched Cookie grow exponentially as a skater. Her skill, balance, and knowledge of the game far surpasses many others who have been playing longer than her. Not only is Cookie quick and nimble as a jammer, but she's extremely effective at positional blocking or knocking someone out as a blocker. The most amazing thing is that she's only been playing derby for about three years and she's still improving. Cookie is the most rad person in the world!" - Carma Kick Sass

Also don't forget to "like" the Roller Derby Examiners on Facebook. I have the list of skaters from around the northwest, but there are more like this coming. For instance, Merry Kaos has started posting hers for the northeastern part of the United States. And they're every bit as entertaining as mine are! So "like" the page and stick around so you can compare and contrast the different lists!
