The 2013 VMAs were held in Brooklyn for the first time on Sunday night at the Barclays Center and MTV commandeered the surrounding neighborhood. Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift stole the fashion show with perfect hairstyles, as is typical for the young singers. However, it was Miley Cyrus who sent the world to bed with nightmares about giant twerking teddy bears.
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are not only BFFs, but the two pop stars have become style icons. While the VMAs generally bring out the strange, absurd and often shocking rock-star chic fashion, Gomez and Swift remained in style, elegant, trendy and were the belles of the ball.
Selena Gomez’s VMAs look was slightly more edgy than buddy Taylor Swift’s red carpet fashion. The “Who Says” singer wore an Atelier Versace that revealed a lot of skin, thanks to its high slit and a bustier under a side flap. Gomez’s hair was sleek and straight parted to the sid. Selena never disappoints on any red carpet.
Taylor Swift looked mature and elegant with her faux bob and finger-waved hairstyle for the 2013 VMAs, topped off with her signature red lips and her own fragrance. The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer oozed old Hollywood glamour in her formfitting, low-cut Herve Leger gown.
While it may be easy to replicate Selena’s hairstyle for the VMAs with a flat iron and a bottle of good hair oil, Taylor’s faux bob would need the help of a pro. Both celebrity hairstyles are perfect for any formal event.
Now, the world knows Miley Cyrus chopped her locks and regrets it. She is growing out her hair, hence the knobby pigtails, And, Miley has disposed of the cute Hanna Montana look to make room for edgy rock-star-glam, however the bears and the hairstyle at the Video Music Awards were cute (weird), not edgy. But, it was Miley Cyrus’ teddy bear twerking performance at the 2013 VMAs, as she rubbed up and down on Robin Thicke that disturbed the masses, sending multitudes to bed with nightmares.
