2013 USPS post office holiday schedule for Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

What time does the post office close on Christmas Eve and is there mail delivery on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2013? Those are two questions being asked nationwide as people wait to receive their holiday gifts or rush to get packages to the post office.

However, the deadline for shipping gifts in time for Christmas has passed, so anything mailed on Tuesday won't be delivered until after the holiday. There will be no mail delivery on Christmas as it is a federal holiday observed by the USPS.

If you need to pick up mail, buy stamps or send a package that will be delivered after the holiday, you still have time to get to the post office on Christmas Eve.

Most branches of the USPS will be closing at Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2013.

There will be regular mail delivery to your home or business on Christmas Eve and it will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 after the Christmas holiday.

What about FEDEX and UPS?

Both FEDEX and UPS will be closed on Christmas Day and will not resume package delivery until Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. However, both companies will deliver packages on Christmas Eve if you're still waiting for a gift to arrive.
