Maple Grove Raceway is one of the six tracks that are part of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series’ Countdown to the Championship at the end of 2013 schedule – and it has a reputation of being the fastest: in 2012, three new national e.t.s were set during the October event . Opened in 1962 as a 1/5-mile drag strip, the track was expanded to a regulation quarter-mile in 1964. 2013 marks the tracks 51st anniversary season.
Owned by the Stauffer family since its opening, Maple Grove joined the NHRA for good in 1969 (it also belonged in 1966), hosting divisional programs and later national programs. In addition to NHRA drag racing (the Full Throttle Series and the Lucas Oil Series), the 2013 schedule at Maple Grove includes the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, May 23rd through 26th; the Mega Mopar Action Series, June 22nd and 23rd; the Super Chevy Show, July 18th through 21st; the Fun Ford Weekend, August 17th and 18th; the Auto Plus NHRA Nationals, October 3rd through 6th; and the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic, October 10th through 13th.
Tickets are not yet on sale for the Auto Plus NHRA Nationals – stay up-to-date on ticket sales at www.maplegroveraceway.com or www.nhra.com.
