2013 track profile: Iowa Speedway

Iowa Speedway, located in Newton, Iowa, opened in 2006. The 7/8-mile “d-shaped” oval was designed by former NASCAR Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace and is also home to a 1.3-mile road course. The track hosts a variety of racing series.

Among the series that have raced and do race at the track are the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights, NASCAR’s Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series, the ARCA Racing Series, and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series. The speedway also hosts concerts in the summer.

In 2013, fans will have six major race weekends during which to visit Iowa Speedway, in addition to a number of weekly racing series. May 30th through June 2nd is the I-80 Iowa Grand Motorcycle Rally, followed by NASCAR’s Nationwide and the K&N Pro Series, June 7th and 8th. The IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights visit the track June 22nd and 23rd, while action on July 12th and 13th features NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series and the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals. The weekend of August 2nd and 3rd features the Nationwide Series and the K&N Pro Series, and the final major weekend on the schedule is a second Camping World Truck Series weekend, September 7th and 8th, also featuring the ARCA Racing Series.
