The Chinese label each year on a twelve year revolving cycle of animals. This year about to pass was the year of the snake. It seems apropos for 2013 in America. This was the year of the lies. This was not the year all theses lies were uttered but the year they were uncovered. Without further ado let us review the 10 biggest lies of 2013.
#1) “If you like your health care plan you can keep it” Without question this was a whopper. So big it made many lists of lie of the year. This was not just uttered in haste by Obama but at last count 36 times starting in 2009. It was not only Obama that lied to the American people but twenty seven Democrats repeated it countless times. Democrats like Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Chuck Schumer, and Barber Boxer. All politicians lie but this one cuts especially deep for 16 million that lost healthcare.
#2) “Not wittingly, there are cases where NSA could inadvertently perhaps collect, but not wittingly”. James Clapper, Director of National intelligence reply when asked if NSA collects data on millions or hundreds of millions Americans. It didn’t take Edward Snowden or the capabilities of NSA to uncover this lie, just reading Woodward’s book, watching NBC or reading wired magazine to uncover the truth. Clapper response to this lie was “I was too cute by half” and it depends on your definition of “collect”.
#3) “One Fateful tweet” Anthony Wieners description of his troubles in a New York Times redemption piece prior to running for mayor of NYC. This was after denying it altogether and claiming his account was hacked. As fast as his lead hardened in the mayor’s race he shot his load and his support went flaccid when it was uncovered his tweeting never stopped. As a side note Carlos Danger (AKA Anthony Weiner) received 1.6 million tax dollars from the NYC campaign finance board to expose himself to New York voters.
#4) "I have never doped. I can say it again, but I've said it for seven years." Lance Armstrong in 2005 in one of many denials. After being stripped of all race wins even Olympic, on Oprah in 2013 “"All the fault and all the blame here falls on me. I viewed this situation as one big lie that I repeated a lot of times. I made my decisions. They are my mistakes, and I am sitting here today to acknowledge that and to say I'm sorry for that." It seems he went from “Live Strong” to” Dope On”.
#6) “I am sorry I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle “claimed to be written on a receipt of New Jersey server Dayna Morales. The openly lesbian Dayna evidently felt the need to manufacture intolerance. This is not the first or last case from burning crosses to hate mail that has been perpetrated by the “victim”. When the real victims showed the original receipt the lie was out of the closet. Dayna besides confused about her orientation was proven to be a serial liar.
#7) “All she wanted was some white roses” Manti Teo’s statement about his imaginary girlfriend Lennay Kekua. Giving the benefit of the doubt Notre Dame’s star linebacker may have been embarrassed about being “catfished” and killed her off in a very public way.
#8) “Go ahead and fabricate it” Julius Buckman on the direction he received to show the unexpected low unemployment numbers just before Obama’s reelection. The only people that bought this lie were committed Obama voters, in the real world Obama’s economy was still a mess.
#9) “……………” Interpretation of Thamsanqa Jantjie’s sign language at Mandela’s funeral. The irony of having a fake interpreter, interpreting fake leaders, interpreting fake mourning will live in infamy.
#10) “I haven’t done anything wrong” Lois Lerner in testimony about the IRS targeting conservative groups and releasing their information to liberal groups just prior to invoking the fifth amendment against self incrimination and her retirement papers. Her retirement is estimated to be over $100,000 per year about 3% of that is tax free.
#11) Oops I lied to you too; there are just too many lies this year to keep to 10. “Let me repeat, nothing I’m proposing tonight should increase the deficit by one dime”, Obama during his state of the union speech February of 2013.Fifty eight point six trillion dimes later the deficit has increased 57% under Obama.
So that is the year in lies. There were many more but these are the highlights. Next year 2014 is the year of the horse. Will HHS be able to corral enough people to make Obamacare work, will there be a roundup of citizens defying new gun laws or will there be a stampede of voters to conservative candidates who are fed up with government overreach? Only time will tell, stay tuned for next year.
