We are a little over a week from the most watched event in sports, the Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLVII takes place next Sunday, Feb. 3, 2012, but already the excitement of wagering on the big game has begun.
There are literally hundreds of different ways you can bet on the 2013 Super Bowl and sports books across the country and the world can't wait for the action.
According to a Jan. 25 article on Yahoo!, William Hill Race & Sports Book released their Super Bowl proposition bets on Friday morning and one of the top betting side bet interests is on 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick.
“There has been an absolute landslide of interest on Kaepernick coming to the forefront,” William Hill director of public relations and longtime Vegas oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro said in the book's press release. “We’ll be offering more than 20 props on Kaepernick alone, and I’ll tell you this: Whatever number we wind up with on Kaepernick, it won’t be enough. It’s an outstanding story, and we’ve already seen that people want to put their wagering dollars on him.”
Wow, that just shows you how things in sports can change on a dime. Colin Kaepernick was unheard of by most NFL fans just two months ago and now he is the most popular name in the NFL.
It was two days before Halloween that Alex Smith threw three touchdown passes vs. the Arizona Cardinals improving the Niners record to 6-2 on the season.
That wasn't long ago at all, but to Smith it must seem like years.
