2013 season in review: Nationwide Series No. 18 Toyota Camry

Joe Gibbs Racing only entered the No. 18 Toyota Camry in 20 Nationwide Series races this year, but Matt Kenseth, who drove the car in 16 of those races, put it to good use: he scored 14 top 10 finishes in the No. 18, including two wins.

Kenseth, whose entries were sponsored by GameStop, Reser’s Fine Foods and Dollar General throughout the season, finished 16th at Daytona before stringing together eight-straight top 10 finishes, including a win at the second Daytona race of the season in July. After a 35th-place finish at Richmond in September, Kenseth rounded out the 2013 season with six more top 10 finishes, including his second Nationwide Series win of the season at Kansas in October.

Joey Coulter also got behind the wheel of the No. 18 for JGR, finishing 18th at Kentucky, while Drew Herring crashed at Bristol and was relegated to a 36th-place finish. Road course specialist Michael McDowell had an uncharacteristically poor outing at Road America, finishing 34th, but bounced back at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with a pole and a runner-up finish.

The JGR No. 18 Toyota Camry finished 22nd in owner’s points in 2013, 613 points back of the No. 22 of Penske Racing, which won the owner’s championship by one point over the JGR No. 54 Toyota Camry.
