Starting February 7 to February 12 of the New Year, there are six days of dog fashion shows, competitions in the ring and even a dog pageant. The much anticipated week brings people from all around the world looking forward to share the love they have for their pets.
These events happen in New York City, one of the top pet friendliest city of USA ( kudos mayor bloomberg ) and to make it easy for you, we have gather all the necessary information.
If you have never been in the city or do not feel safe going around town in your own, don't despair. Your dog can help you get to any point. Bark Baby Bark has ingeniously created New York t-shirts for dogs that literally have a silhouette of the city printed in them with high-lites on some of the most known neighborhoods like Chelsea, Central Park , SOHO and my favorite LES( Lower east Side ) among a few. Have a collection of them and just point to where you want to go at any cab, bus or subway station and youll be there in a “woof”

Thursday, February 7th – This event is on their 3rd year and benefits Angels on a Leash program. Location is at The New Yorker Hotel, 481 eight avenue between 34 & 35 street. They even have a casting call for models on January 5th. For more info visit: www.newyorkierunway.com
Friday, February 8th – on its 8th year, this is definitely the top NYC pet event gathering the who’s who in the pet industry. This year benefits Animal Haven Shelter. Happens at The 18 floor top Ballroom in the Pennsylvania Hotel located at 33rd street and 7th avenue. There is a contest of Best dressed in show under the Roaring 1920’s theme. Saturday February 9th – On its debut is Doggies and Tiaras Pageant. Yes, a dog beauty and talent contest for those not so shy, glitter and all. Event benefits Inky Blue Seas.

Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th – AKC Dog show Competitions in the ring start early 8:00 am at both Hotels; The New Yorker with Yorkshires and at Pennsylvania with the toy group. My favorites to watch (of course), the Mighty Chihuahuas. These are great events to attend and learn about pure breed dogs. To have an idea check: Progressive

Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th – The Westminster Kennel Club dog shows. See us again cheering at 7:30 am in the Chihuahua ring at Madison Square Garden . For more info visit: Westminster
