The 2013 SAG Awards presentation is just three days away, so get set for some big time Hollywood excitement. Here’s a complete guide to this year’s nominees, presenters and auction, plus a bit of history and news about the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, which airs simultaneously on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, Jan. 27. Lauded by critics for its style, simplicity and genuine warmth, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which made its debut in 1995, has become one of the industry’s most prized honors. As the only televised awards show to exclusively honor performers, the SAG Awards presents thirteen awards for acting in film and television in a two-hour show, which is relaxed and often referred to as the "cream filling between the Golden Globes and the Oscars."
2013 SAG Award nominees
The 2013 nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture include “Argo,” “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Les Miserables,” “Lincoln,” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, John Hawkes, Hugh Jackman and Denzel Washington are all up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role; while Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Lawrence, Helen Mirren and Naomi Watts vie for the leading lady award.

A growing roster of actors will honor their colleagues by presenting awards. 2013 SAG Awards Auction
The SAG Awards Auction offers collectibles from many of the nominees and benefits the Screen Actors Guild Foundation to help sustain its award winning children’s literacy programs: BookPALS and Storyline Online. The auction also supports the Foundation's Catastrophic Health Fund and emergency services, the Actors Center, and the video preservation of the creative legacy of professional actors.
This year’s SAG Auction is now open for bidding on Ebay and includes signed items by the casts of “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Lincoln,” “Les Miserables” and much more. Bids will be accepted through Jan. 31.
2013 SAG Lifetime Achievement Award: Dick Van Dyke
Dick Van Dyke, beloved actor, singer, dancer, writer and comedian, will receive SAG’s highest honor – the Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishments. The award is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession.”
SAG-AFTRA Co-President Roberta Reardon said of this year’s recipient, “With Dick, it's so much more than the proverbial 'triple threat.' He started his career as a radio announcer, game show host and comedian and was a spokesman for Kodak, among numerous other roles, over his nearly 60-year career. His contributions to the success of the business and to his fellow performers is legendary as is his work with a number of the leading ladies of our times, including Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore - both previous Life Achievement Award recipients. His infectious laugh has warmed audiences for decades and is an unforgettable facet of his fabulous personality."
Holder of five Emmys, a Tony Award and a Grammy, Van Dyke at 86 still possesses the zest for life that first propelled him into the limelight more than a half-century ago with the Broadway and film versions of “Bye Bye Birdie,” the 60s situation comedy “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and the film classic “Mary Poppins."

- Peter Fracinelli: On Tuesday, SAG announced that Peter Fracinelli, star of the “Twilight” movies and “Nurse Jackie,” would be joined by Vitalie Taittinger to officially open the red carpet at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.
- Trivia: On February 29, 2012, Dick Van Dyke married make-up artist Arlene Silver. They met at the 2007 SAG Awards and currently live in Malibu, Ca.
- Wine time: Gallo Signature Series wines will serve as the official wine for the 2013 SAG Awards.
- Webcasts: TNT, TBS and “People” have once again teamed up for a special live webcast that puts viewers right in the middle of the glitz and glamour of the SAG Awards. The webcast will begin with live coverage of the red-carpet arrivals on tnt.tv, tbs.com and People.com, beginning at 6 p.m. EST and 3 p.m. PST. In addition, tnt.tv will serve as "SAG Awards Central," offering a wide assortment of interactive functions designed to complement the on-air telecast.
- Statuettes: The SAG Award statuettes were cast in solid bronze at the American Fine Arts Foundry in Burbank, Ca.
- Voting: Voting information for the 2013 Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was mailed on Dec. 31, 2012 to the entire active membership of SAG-AFTRA, who voted on all categories, either online or via requested paper ballots.
- Giant statues: Five 10-foot, 200-pound likenesses of The Actor statuette, that were introduced at the 9th and 10th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, will grace the red carpet, the stage, the media rooms and Post-Awards Gala in 2013.
- Red carpet: SAG workers will lay 15,872 square feet of red carpet in the arrivals area, edged by 585 feet of hedges.
- Dining: Guests will dine on antipasto plates conceived by James Beard Award-winning chef Suzanne Goin. They can choose the main plate with salmon and beef tenderloin or a vegan plate with vegetables.
- Champagne: Tattinger is supplying 160 magnums of champagne for the dinner and 155 bottles for the showroom bars.
- It takes a village: By Sunday, Jan. 27, more than 700 staff and crew will be hard at work to make the 2013 SAG Awards a reality.
The History of the SAG Awards
The Screen Actors Guild is the nation’s largest labor union, representing working actors. Established in 1933, SAG has a rich history in the American labor movement. With 20 branches nationwide, SAG represents more than 120,000 actors who work in film and digital theatrical motion pictures and television programs, commercials, video games, industrials, Internet and all new media formats.
