The lights are officially turned off before 9PM on New Year's Eve (December 31st) in anticipation of the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square.

Tonight's tree lighting can be viewed on NBC television at 9 PM in the Salt Lake City viewing area. Special guests for the 2013 tree lighting include: Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Goo Goo Dolls, Ariana Grande and Jewel.
