The path for change is paved by those who choose to follow it, embracing the turns. Starting the New Year with positive energy helps develop the picture we want for health. What did you let go of in 2012? Maybe you came to terms with a difficult situation, job or relationship that has been causing you negative energy. Focusing on the now, where you would like to be, is the route to a healthier and happier you.
Look around: Who has continued to support your best you? Who offered some helpful suggestions that allowed you to navigate through a system? Where can you gain strength from positive energy? Maybe it is planning more healthy meals, seeking professional guidance or attending new events. If you take some time to develop your plans, they can unfold throughout the New Year, with new connections and fullness.
Kansas City offers a new ballet schedule, new restaurants to enjoy, some low-cost arts and symphony events. If you are a basketball fan, the season is in full swing and the local school clubs get out to popular locations for game watches. Check out schedules online and don’t forget to dress in your team spirit. First Friday in the Crossroads, each month, brings people together to support the arts, local non-profits and entertainment.
Area professionals are planning local animal fundraising events. Did you know there are few federal laws in place protecting animals? They need our advocacy and there are groups centered around providing care for pets, at minimal cost, while many professionals offer time and services. If you can take on a disabled or homeless animal, the shelters have taken strides against putting them down. There are businesses offering donations, to be silently auctioned, for greater funds to support these efforts. All of this positively impacts the environment and promotes a more caring community.
What cause are you hoping to support in 2013? The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website (www.gkccf.org) allows donors to select from various organizations and causes in the area. Some include meetings with open attendance or support specialists who can assist you in your plans. Make a small list of goals and go from there. Small steps lead to more success and choose one area for positive growth. This could be repairing a relationship, seeking a more fulfilling career, taking a class or planning a wedding. It may mean saving for that trip you hope to take. Offer hope to someone in need and consider where you can give your time, talent and suggestions. There may be a board seeking nominations for your expertise; or there may be a class in the community where you can join, network and get some helpful tips!
Make 2013 a year of health, productivity and grace. Peace to you and yours,
~Krista (your Natural Health Partner)
