2013 puts Grand Rapids into the top 10

The persistent snowfall of December 2013 has landed Grand Rapids into the top 10 snowiest Decembers.

At the airport, snowfall was recorded on 18 of the 25 days this month. The total snowfall for the month so far is 27.9 inches. This puts Grand Rapids in tenth place for snowiest Decembers. Keep in mind that we still have a week left in the month. With more snow in the forecast we’re likely to more up a few places before the end of the year. Notice that 5 of the top 10 snowiest Decembers were in the just last few years.
