An overall total of seventeen finalists, were selected as candidates for the 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame. The potential inductees will have a chance to join the ranks of the most revered athletes, to ever play the game.
The vote to decide which finalist will be inducted, takes place on Feb. 2, 2013, the day before the NFL Super Bowl. Each finalist must receive 80 percent or higher score, from the 46-member selection committee. Four to seven new members will be inducted, out of the seventeen finalist.
Jan. 11, NFL reports, "The Class of 2013 will be determined at the Selection Committee's annual meeting on Saturday, Feb. 2, in New Orleans, La. the day before Super Bowl XLVII. The election results will be announced immediately afterward, from the Super Bowl media headquarters."
The 17 finalists consist of fourteen NFL players, one NFL coach, and two NFL team owners. The finalists were narrowed-down from a total of 127 nominees, to 27 semifinalists, to the following 17 hopefuls.
