The 85th Annual Academy Awards took place Sunday night at the Dolby Theatre-formally known as the Kodak Theatre to all of the glitz and glamour typical for an annual star studded event of this magnitude. The red carpet was the pinnacle of trend setting style as all of the nominees, A-list celebrities, and photographers lined the red carpet anticipating the night’s best.
Among the best was Best Actress Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence who wowed the crowd in a strapless Dior Haute Couture ball gown with a Roger Vivier clutch and Chopard jewels as accompanying accessories.
Best Supporting Actress winner Anne Hathaway kept it safe and demure in Prada with Tiffany & Co. jewels adorning her neck and wrist. Most of the night’s best dressed kept it simple and clean like Charlize Theron who wore a strapless v-neck cut Dior Haute Couture dress in white with Harry Winston jewels. Fashion trends for the 2013 Oscar’s included nude to light colors, strapless ball gowns and cleavage bearing cut-outs with white and nude pink topping the list.
Among the surprising highlights on the red carpet were Helen Hunt’s choice of dress that just so happened to be H&M, the blue frock stood the test alongside its Haute Couture peers and Hunt looked radiant. Best Actress nominee Quvenzhane Wallis also surprised everyone in her age appropriate custom made Giorgio Armani number which will be the talk of the town among the playground set.
The report card for the 2013 Oscars red carpet is a B+ as the majority of Hollywood's elite came dressed to impressed. There were, however, a minute few who didn’t get the memo that this was the Oscar’s and not a costume party thus missing the mark of an perfect A.
My pick for best dressed of the night goes to Jennifer Lawrence in Dior, followed by Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta coming in at close second. Rounding off the top three is Naomi Watts in an undeniable Giorgio Armani number. Here are 12 of the night’s best dressed at the 85th Annual Academy Awards.
