2013 Oscar's were memorable

This year’s Oscars were marked with not only stunning dresses but sparkles and new trends. For example there were beautiful alternative dresses with flowers, colors and metallic shades which went well with some of the edgy movies up for nominations like Flight with Denzel Washington. Django Unchained staring Jaime Foxx and Kerry Washington, which was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay along with Ben Affleck’s Argo. Unfortunately, they all had to move over for Ben Affleck’s Argo based on CIA deception combined with triumph to help save innocent people. This movie gave America a jump start; it was coined a feel good movie with the happy ending everyone needed. Argo had snapped up every major award leading up to the Oscars. Therefore many were not surprised by the big win.

There were also some newbies to grab a piece of the Oscar pie like filmmaker Sawn Christensen won the Best Live Action Short Film award for “Curfew”. His award was presented by the gracious and phenomenal pair Jaime Foxx and Kerry Washington.

Although the Oscar's were filled with brilliant celebrities and fabulous dresses the awards had a very edgy modern twist this year due the wide variety of movies from Lincoln to Flight. Not to mention Michelle Obama's surprise appearance -- via satellite -- came at the end of the show when she helped announce the Best Picture Oscar winner!
