2013 NextEra Energy 250: Busch runner-up under caution

Kyle Busch drove the No. 51 Toyota Care Toyota Tundra to a runner-up finish in Friday night’s NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway. The race ended under caution, with the victory going to Johnny Sauter.

Busch was planning on making his move for the win on the last lap of the 100-lap opener for the Camping World Truck Series, but an accident involving 2012 Truck champ James Buescher, Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Joey Coulter, John King and Jeff Agnew just after the white flag flew left him with no chance.

"Yeah, we'd have a really good day if it was a 100 lap race, but it was only 99 today,” said Busch on the KBM website. “Man, I hate how that happens. You get crashed here taking the white flag and you can't get a chance to bring it back. The Toyota Care Tundra was awesome. All the guys on this team did a great job. Just phenomenal being able to build three trucks really quick to get us out here and I appreciate them being able to help us qualify up near the front – top Toyota. To be able to come out here and race and run strong like that and be in position all night, I mean, shoot, I think the worst I fell was fourth, fifth or sixth – something like that – but wish we could pull off a win here in a Truck race. It's the only one I'm missing – I've got ARCA, Nationwide and Cup at Daytona -- have yet to get a Truck win, so try again next time."

Sauter’s victory gave Toyota its 100th win in the series. Ron Hornaday Jr., Justin Lofton and Jeb Burton rounded out the top five.

Darrell Wallace Jr., making his Truck Series debut in the No. 54 DefyDiabetes.com Tundra, brought his truck home in 12th, while Coulter’s night ended with a 22nd-place finish in the No. 18 Gunbroker.com Tundra.

In the Nationwide Series race on Saturday, watch KBM driver Parker Kligerman in the No. 77 Bandit Chippers Toyota Camry, starting third in the field of 40 cars at Daytona. Follow the KBM team at www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
