Monday Night Football is back! Ok, it’s not MNF pro style, but nevertheless tonight’s college game will feature two up and coming programs trying to regain their forms and climb the college ranks when Florid State takes on Pittsburgh at 8:00 p.m. EST this evening. You can catch all of the action streaming online or on TV thanks to ESPN.
It’s been a long time since Florida State sat on top of the college football world, but head coach Jimbo Fisher believes his Seminoles have what it takes to repeat as ACC champions despite losing several key players.
Florida State lost 11 players from their 2012-13 squad as they made the jump from college to the pro ranks, including quarterback EJ Manuel, cornerback Xavier Rhodes and defensive end Bjoern Werner, all of which went in the first round of April’s 2013 NFL draft.
In three seasons as coach, Fisher has guided FSU to a 31-10 overall record and an ACC championship. Coming into 2013, and a preseason ranking of No.11 in the polls, you can bet Fisher has his eyes on the top prize as FSU goes after a BCS bid and possible National Championship.
According to triblive.com, Pittsburgh will be lead by senior quarterback Tom Savage, who reinvented himself following success early in his career at Rutgers. Pittsburgh leads the all-time series 5-3, but the may have a tough time getting the victory tonight. The Panthers won the last time these two teams met 17-16, but that was back in 1983.
If the Panthers can pull of the upset tonight, they could be in for an incredible season.
