The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be held this Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Holmes Lake Park in Lincoln Nebraska. The Program and registration begin at 12 noon and the walk will start at 1:00 p.m. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society's nationwide walk that occurs every year in effort to raise funds to fight this dreadful disease, and to educate the public on how to stay well. They provide information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them. For more information, or to sign up as a team, go to cancer.org.
There is not a registration fee or a minimum amount of money that each individual needs to raise. Walkers are encouraged to raise at least $100, but if they can't you are invited to walk to show your support. For the safety of others, they discourage pets, but service animals are welcome.
Immediately after the walk, come to The Garage Sports Bar and Grill, located at 5551 South 48th Street in Lincoln. Thirsty and hungry walkers can replenish themselves on pink Kegs of beer, and a full menu of food and other spirits. Owners, Heinz and Trish Westphal, will put on their annual live auction with all the proceeds going to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign.
Trish, a six year breast cancer survivor will be among the many that will be sharing stories of inspiration and courage. Come share in the laughter and tears after listening to courageous women who have battled this illness and survived. It will be a fun event and I hope to see you all there. Together we can help to finish the fight against breast cancer.
