2013 L.A. Marathon commandeers the streets on St. Patrick's Day (Video)

Runner's World named the L.A. Marathon the "Best Big City Race" last year. If you aren't planning to run 26.2 miles, join your community and cheer. It's free! Dozens of bands will be playing, and all kinds of entertainment will be scattered throughout the course. The L.A. Marathon begins at Dodger Stadium at 6:55 a.m. for wheelchair participants, 7 a.m. for hand cycle participants, and 7:28 a.m. for all others on St. Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17, 2013.

This Stadium to the Sea scenic course zooms by some of L.A.'s most famous landmarks, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grauman's (now Mann's) Chinese Theatre, the Capitol Records building, the Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, and the Santa Monica Pier. Click here to see the exact route.

Big Hotel, Gradual Effect, Anders-Royal, The Mason Affair, Zen Boogie, Ann Likes Red, and Core are just a few of the bands slated to play along the route. Click here to view the full list of entertainment, and where they are scheduled to perform.

Since the course winds through Elysian Park, Chinatown, Olvera Street, Little Tokyo, Bunker Hill, Angeleno Heights, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Little Armenia, Thai Town, Hollywood, WeHo, Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood, Brentwood, and Santa Monica, you may be within walking distance of the race. Put on some shoes, and stroll over. It's amazing to experience how the L.A. Marathon brings neighbors together.

You never know which celebrities you'll see racing. It is L.A., after all! Entourage star Adrian Grenier, Transformers' Shia LaBeouf, Rudy darling Sean Astin, Scooby Doo's Freddie Prinze Jr., and Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist, Flea (Yes, really!) have all run the L.A. Marathon.

Sure, streets will be closed. Simply click here and plan to avoid them. The good news: streets will reopen to vehicular traffic on a rolling basis, according to a 15-minute per mile pace.

Run over and join the fun.
