January in Florida signals the beginning of what Space Coast residents refer to as 'festival season'. It is that time of year when snowbirds are here, but rain is not; temperatures are low, but humidity is not. It is the perfect time of year to be outdoors and the heavy schedule of outdoor events reflects that.
Fine Art and Craft
On January 19 and 20, more than 100 of the nation’s most accomplished artists will be in Indialantic for the 23rd Annual Indialantic Art Festival. The two-day event is held in a breezy park, under the palms, steps away from the beach, but is far from casual. It is one of several by Howard Alan Events, known nationally for bringing award-winning artists together for outdoor art festivals. The selection process is by jury, which means applications are judged and a committee decides whether or not to allow the artist to be featured in any particular art show. Howard Alan Events separate fine art from craft and offer a full schedule of shows for each category.
Meet the artists
Contemporary Art lovers will have the opportunity to meet the artists and ask about their work. It is the perfect opportunity to ask about techniques, where they get their ideas, and purchase fine works of art or maybe ask an artist to create something special just for them. Serious buyers are able to view samples of the art that will be exhibited at the festival before the event, and they have the option of contacting an artist for more information, or to schedule an appointment during the show.
What to expect
Visitors should remember that the Indialantic Art Festival is not to be confused with the Indialantic Craft Festival, also held at Nance Park, every July. At the upcoming Art Festival, they can expect to find:
- Jewelry - several different artists
- Pottery
- Stoneware
- Photography
- Wood furniture
- Calligraphy, pen and ink
- Sculpture - several different mediums
- Paintings - oils and watercolors
- Fabric - clothing and wall art
